What is the difference between Sawn Only and Planed All Round cladding boards?
Sawn boards are cut to size on our state-of-the-art sawmill but will feel rough to touch. Planed boards are smoother to touch and have a cleaner look.
Ideal for exterior wall cladding and other outdoor uses - larch and douglas fir are extremely durable timbers that don't require treating, it should have a lifespan of around 25 years although the colour will weather grey over time. Should you wish to prevent the colouring, or add your own colour to the timber, please see our choice of Fiddes wood protectors from the drop-down.
It is an extremely tough and hard-wearing timber due to its high resin content, making it tougher than pine and perfect for a traditional style cladding for homes and outbuildings.
As a natural product, please allow for a small variance in size due to blade inaccuracies of shrinkage if boards have been air-dried.
What grade is our larch/cedar? We do not grade our softwoods. As a company, we produce 0% wood waste so use the whole of the log from the whole of the tree to produce our boards.
