- Barrels are tested to ensure that they are watertight, steel bands are pinned to ensure strength and bungs are fitted prior to transport

When used correctly, water butts can provide all the water necessary for keeping your garden alive throughout the long summer months.
The great news is that water butts don't have to be an ugly piece of green plastic in your garden. By using a converted whisky barrel water butt, you are able to create an aesthetic and beautiful garden ornament whilst maintaining the practical use of a water butt.
Please note, barrels will vary in appearance depending on our current stock. They may also contain paint or markings from the distillery which adds to the character of the barrels.
Caring for your Water Butt
- Please ensure that the barrel is not left to dry out. They are watertight when they are despatched from our depot but the staves may shrink if left empty for too long, which will lead to leaks, especially if left in the sun. If the staves do dry out and leak, you can mix sawdust in with the water to help temporarily fill the gap as they swell or use beeswax to help seal the leak.
Available with a removable lift-off lid or the barrel's fixed lid and a range of accessories.
Rainwater diverters will be black or white depending on stock. Raiser blocks will elevate the height of the barrel so that most watering cans are able to fit underneath. They will be either oak or softwood, depending on our stock. Particularly tall/rounded watering cans may need to be tilted, or you may have to raise the barrel further.

Great piece of kit
We bought our first oak barrel from Celtic Timber in 2014 and it served us well until we allowed to dry out too much and it started to leak. The wooden tap did not last well. This time we have purchased a similar barrel but with a brass tap and removable lid and this has filled up nicely in recent downpours and looks very satisfactory next to our New Dawn rose. We are very happy to have a traditional wooden butt rather than one made of synthetic materials.
Excellent barrel, so much better than plastic. It was worth the 2 week wait for delivery. It's up and running with little effort. It is very heavy and the delivery men struggled with it, but after removing the lid we had very little trouble manoeuvring it into place. Thank you
I love my water butt so much! It means I can water my garden with my bath water via a simple siphon - no plumbing needed! It looks so beautiful and you can see in the photo how the block is the perfect height for a water can, best birthday present ever!
