Can you use oak shelves in space?

OAK is actually an acronym for Outstanding And Knowledgable as the Japanese felt like oak trees stored large amounts of wisdom. (It is actually believed to have evolved from the Old Norse ‘eik’)

Oak shelves are best known for their beauty. Oak’s grain is unique and interesting. Medullary rays (more present in higher-grade oak like what we use for our shelves), the distinct grain and its beautiful range of natural colours, all make oak shelves stand out in any home.

Types of Oak Shelves:
There are many ways to fix your oak shelving and it’ll change how it looks/acts completely depending on where you want them in your home. We supply a range of brackets for almost any job.
Probably our most popular brackets are straight brackets to create floating oak shelves like the below images. These can either be in an alcove or floating off any wall (ideally solid, but they can be fixed to studwork).

Alternatively, you can choose to accentuate the style of the brackets rather than hide that they exist at all. This is particularly effective where the brackets can contrast with the wall and the shelf and have the space to show off their own beauty rather than simply being functional.

Oak Shelf Sizes and Dimensions:
The beauty of Celtic Timber Oak Shelves? Any size! We allow you to select any length or width to the mm and you won’t be charged any more for it. We are a bit more restricted on thicknesses due to the sizes that we receive the oak but you can receive a shelf as thin as 20mm or as thick as 57mm (over 2″)!
Oak Shelf Styles and Designs:
The biggest factor in determining the style of oak shelf that you receive is whether you want it to be square-edged or have a waney edge. The waney edge is the natural edge of the tree meaning that the shelf will look more rustic and natural whereas a square edge suits a more modern home. It is worth checking the bracket descriptions as some will only fit square edged shelves.

A colour for every occasion. Our shelves arrive in their naked, natural blonde oak style and you can choose from a range of coloured oils/waxes to protect them and make them fit into the style of your home. Easy.

Maintenance and Care:
Simply oil your shelf with your chosen colour on arrival. Most of our options are monocoat oils which only require one coat and will be dry in a couple of hours. From there, frequent dusting will help keep your shelf clean. Any tough marks can lightly sanded out with a small amount of oil applied afterwards.
